About the Programme
The Mental Health Mentoring Training Programme (MHMTP) builds on the legacy of the Mayor’s New Deal for Young People, continuing the commitment to strengthen London’s mentoring and youth sector.
The programme has evolved to respond to one of the most important challenges facing young Londoners today: supporting their mental health and emotional wellbeing.
Through a comprehensive programme of online learning and resources, mentors and youth professionals will develop practical skills to:
- recognise and respond appropriately to young people’s mental health needs
- build trusted, supportive relationships
- promote emotional resilience and wellbeing
- understand safeguarding and appropriate boundaries
- deliver high-quality mentoring using the Mayor’s Mentoring Quality Framework
- create safe, inclusive and trauma-informed mentoring environments.
The platform also continues to provide access to the Mayor’s existing mentoring and youth volunteering training, allowing learners to build on strong mentoring foundations while developing specialist knowledge in supporting young people’s wellbeing.
